Burnley 4-1 Morecambe

15 October 2013

Burnley are through to the Quarter Finals of the Lancashire FA Senior Cup after comfortably defeating Morecambe 4-1 at Turf Moor.

After having an early scare, going behind in the fifth minute through Tom Woods, Burnley found the equaliser when summer signing Ryan Noble slotted home from six yards after trialist Micah Evans cleverly beat his man and found the cross.

Moments later, the hosts took the lead when the trialist again found space to pick out Steven Hewitt, who couldn’t miss from close range.

And as the goals quickly flowed, the impressive Jamie Frost made it three, again from short distance in the 35th minute.

It didn't take long, following the restart, for Burnley to find the fourth.

Frost neatly found Noble with a chipped pass in the 47th minute and the former Sunderland youngster helped himself to his second of the night with a sweet strike from just outside the area.

Burnley continued to enjoy the majority of possession throughout the second half, and could have increased the lead after seeing a couple of chances just miss the target, including a fierce 30-yard effort from Luke Gallagher which just whistled over the crossbar.

Burnley line-up: Nizic, Coleman, Long (Errington 69), Anderson, Brownhill, Evans, Hewitt, Love, Gallagher, Frost (Daly 82), Noble (Gilchrist 69)
