Clarets Host Fund-Raising Night

13 July 2013

Barrowford School’s Comedy and Curry Night held at Turf Moor

On Saturday, 29th June 2013, Barrowford School’s Parents, Teachers and Friends Association held its inaugural fundraising event in the 1882 Suite at Burnley Football Club.

The evening involved a performance from a comedian and a disco as well as a raffle and auction, both of which included prizes and items that had been kindly donated by a range of Lancashire-based businesses.

Through the combination of donations and sponsorship the event raised over £4,000 that will contribute to the creation of an outdoor learning space at the school, which will encourage the children to become more aware of their environment.

This product will predominantly benefit the children of Barrowford School. However, the wilderness garden is open to the whole community and is available to local clubs and groups if they wish.

Rachel Tomlinson, Barrowford Head Teacher said: “At Barrowford School we believe that being part of a community is extremely important, and we are all committed to embracing our wider community by working in partnership with others, far beyond the school walls”

Barrowford School would like to thank all of the sponsors and partners who contributed to the event, including: Lanway CBS Ltd, Carpet Market, Businesswise Solutions, UCFB, G4S, Barrowford Celtic FC, Drivers Plumbers, John Derbyshire, JL Electrcial, Merc Engineering, Thorne Access and Security Little Feet, Scruples Menswear, Turners Restaurant and Wine Shop, GA Green Grocers, Beech’s Butchers, Presentation Cards and Gift Shop, Rubajello’s Coffee Shop, Barrowford Pet Shop, Pet Angels Grooming Parlour, Fleur Couture Florist, Barrowford Electrical Sales, Kimora Ladies Clothes & Shoes, Sarah Hargreaves Hairdressing, Domvielle Ladies Wear, Barcode, David Wrest Associates, Chapman Commercial, Pure Beauty Salon, Lomeshaye Day Nursery, Harry Garlick, Dr. Ashworth, Modern Embroidery, Wacky Ware House, Burnley FC and BFC Community Department.

Given the success of the event, Burnley Football Club is looking to offer this opportunity to other schools, junior football clubs and community organisations in the future.
