Striker only absentee at Globe Arena
Charlie Austin will not feature at Morecambe tonight as Burnley get their pre-season campaign up and running.
Clarets boss Sean Dyche aims to give all his first team squad a run-out at the Globe Arena, which is likely to see two different teams in each half.
However, following the collapse of a proposed deal to Hull City, striker Austin will not feature this evening.
Burnley manager Sean Dyche confirmed: “Because of the situation, we have given Charlie a day off to spend time with his family and ready his thoughts before he joins us on the trip to Cork.”
Elsewhere, Burnley expect to have everyone available for the short trip to Morecambe (7.45pm KO).
Dyche added: “The early games, as you can imagine, are about fitness and people getting their eye back in.
“There will be lots of changes in those early games, including the game in Cork.
“But the lads have come back in good shape.
“We are building it up slowly and we want to make sure we stay injury free.
Pre-season is hard, whichever way you look at it. It’s a difficult time physically and mentally, but we’ve got a nice game at Morecambe, followed by a lovely trip to Cork.”
Fans making the trip to Morecambe have been invited to visit the Regent Leisure Park ahead of the game for refreshments.
The Regent Leisure Park is a large caravan park directly opposite the Globe Arena.
Free Parking is available on secure car parks, and facilities included a bar, food, a play area for children and an arcade. All are welcome.
