Big Sam enjoys look of league table
Sam Vokes insists the Clarets are in fear of no-one as they continue their climb up the Championship table.
Vokes set Burnley on their way to a highly impressive 2-0 win at Millwall as Sean Dyche’s men moved up to seventh place in the table.
And the striker, whose sharp first-half finish was followed by a second-half clincher from Danny Ings, sees no reason for the run to end.
“The spirit in the camp is really high at the moment,” said Vokes.
“It’s a third league win on the bounce so we come to places like this without fear at the moment and we are getting our just desserts.
“We are pushing so who knows? We have got the ground work in place to carry it on until the end of the season.
“We look stronger with every performance. We were looking at the table and it’s starting to make good reading.”
Burnley’s fourth win in five Championship games came at the expense of a Millwall side unbeaten at The Den since September.
And it was no more than the Clarets deserved for an outstanding performance which brought them their fifth victory away from home this season.
“They have been on a good run here so we knew it was going to be a tough game, but I think we showed our quality today,” added Vokes, who capped an impressive personal display with his third goal of the season.
“It was a very strong performance. It was a cold day and it’s a tough place to come with a hostile atmosphere but the boys stood up to it and proved we worth the three points.
“It was a great 90 minutes. We started off strongly, got the goal early on and kept it going.
“We got the second and then they put some pressure on but the lads showed the spirit to stay strong to earn the three points.
“It’s good to get another 90 minutes under my belt and to top it off with a goal and three points was fantastic.”
