Young Burnley side pass University Challenge
Burnley's Development Squad came from behind to defeat a Nike Academy side 4-1at Loughborough University.
Jason Gilchrist's late brace rounded off an emphatic victory for the the Clarets, who came from behind to lead through Joe Jackson and trialist Jordan Kirkpartick.
Tom Anderson (pictured above), who has been acting as defensive cover in the senior squad since returning from a loan spell at AFC Barrow, was included in a line-up made up of young professionals and youth teamers.
And after weathering an early storm in gale-force conditions, Burnley fell behind to the physical hosts.
However, in the 35th minute Joe Jackson fired home off the post following good work from Brad Jackson and Kirkpartick.
The midfield trialist then handed Burnley the lead early in the second half with a curling shot into the top corner.
And Gilchrist rounded off a good afternoon's work in front of watching Burnley boss Sean Dyche, tapping home from close range in the closing moments.
Development squad coach Simon Weatherstone said: "It was a battle to begin with against physical team in testing conditions, but once the boys got their passing game going the ability shone through.
"It was a great test for the squad. Aryn Williams, in particular, was outstanding and Tom Anderson was solid at the back, but I'm delighted with the attitude of all the lads."
