Easy win as Gilchrist returns to scoresheet

The Clarets bounced back to winning ways in the Youth Alliance with a comfortable win at Bury on Friday afternoon.

Terry Pashley's side secured a first win in four league games thanks to goals from Jason Gilchrist, Khius Metz, Alex Whitmore and Andreas Bianga.

Top scorer Gilchrist returned to youth-team duty and made his mark after just 13 minutes as he rifled home a left-foot shot.

Academy striker Khius Metz continued his recent fine form by making it 2-0 before the break from a Luke Daly pass.

And central defender Alex Whitmore then helped himself to a rare goal as he tapped home at the far post from a corner with an hour gone.

Pashley promptly made a double change and Bianga took his chance to get on the scoresheet when he wrapped up a comprehensive victory by firing home at the second attempt as Burnley avenged their opening-day defeat.

Burnley: Jakovlevs, Dummigan, Conlan (Nugent ht), Whitmore, Holt, Daly, Lowe (Bianga 60), Frost, Nuttall, Metz, Gilchrist (Massanka 60). Subs: Crawford, Mitchell.
