New signing David Jones on his Turf Moor hopes
David Jones admitted he was delighted to finally end the world’s worst kept secret and formally join Burnley!
The 28-year-old midfielder has been training with the Clarets for several weeks, playing in four pre-season friendlies before finally penning a three-year deal this morning.
And the former Wigan Athletic and Wolves ace insist he cannot wait to get his Turf Moor career up and running.
“I am just delighted to get it done. I’ve been training here a few weeks now and playing a few games, so I was pleased to finally push it through,” said Jones.
“I feel like this is the place for me and I got that right from the start, after speaking to the manager.
“I’ve been made to feel really welcome and I’m just eager to get the season underway now.
Clarets boss Sean Dyche made his move over the summer after learning that that former England youth international was not being offered a new contact at Wigan.
And Jones admitted he was immediately keen to link up with the Clarets once he learned of the interest.
He added: “I just felt at the time this was a very good option for me.
“I was a free agent and I was listening to various options that were coming available. But after meeting the gaffer I was happy to join and I have been very impressed.
“This seems like a very homely, family-orientated club, so the first impressions were good and now I just want to get playing for Burnley and have a good relationship with the fans.”
