Clarets defender Daniel Lafferty played a key role for Northern Ireland as they secured a famous 1-0 win over Russia at Windsor Park.
The 24 year-old completed the full 90 minutes in the World Cup qualifier as a goal from former Burnley striker Martin Paterson earned the Province a famous victory.
However Lafferty, later described by manager Michael O’Neill as “outstanding’” will be disappointed to have picked up a yellow card that keeps him out of the game against Portugal next month.
The result for Northern Ireland has improved their chances of qualifying from Group F as they move on to six points behind Israel, Russia and Portugal.
Elsewhere, Turf Moor teammate Sam Vokes came off the bench for Wales as their friendly fixture against Republic of Ireland ended 0-0.

Vokes will now be hoping to be involved as Wales travel to Macedonia on 6 September for their next World Cup qualifier.
