Port Vale Youth 1 Burnley Youth 2
Burnley Youth Team deservedly ran our winners in their penultimate league game at Port Vale on Wednesday.
The Clarets were on top throughout, with goals from Lewis Nuttall and Bradley Jackson putting Terry Pashley’s side in control before Vale hit a late consolation.
The opening half was a tale of Burnley dominating possession, but struggling to create clear-cut chances.
However, seven minutes after the break, Kevin Ly crossed to the far post, where Nuttall nodded the Clarets in front.
And in the 70th minute Burnley doubled their advantage when Jackson advanced down the left, cut inside and unleashed a curling chot from 25 yards that sailed into the top corner.
And a minute from time the hosts did halve the deficit, but the Clarets survived a late rally to chalk up a second successive victory ahead of their final Youth Alliance game of the 2013/14 season at Wrexham this Saturday.
