Clarets defender makes Championship team
Clarets defender Kieran Trippier has been rewarded for another impressive season with a place in the PFA Championship team of the season.
Trippier landed the honour at the Professional Footballers’ Association's annual awards ceremony in London on Sunday, April 28.
The former Manchester City defender, 22, has been a virtual ever-present in his second season at Turf Moor.
And Trippier, who is the club’s current player of the year, paid tribute to his Clarets’ team mates after being named as one of the PFA’s top Championship players of the 2012/13 season.
Speaking to burnleyfc.com from the awards on Sunday, he said: “It’s a fantastic honour and I’m proud to be here representing Burnley.
“I don’t feel I’ve been on top form throughout the season and I certainly feel my best is yet to come.
“But being nominated is only possible because of the way the team has played.
“Everyone knows I like to get forward as much as possible, but you need to have confidence in the players around you to do that and we have a great bunch of lads here at Burnley.
“It’s largely because of them that I’m here tonight and I’m absolutely delighted to be nominated.”
PFA Championship Team of the Season: Schmeichel (Leicester City), Trippier (Burnley), Morgan (Leicester City), Hudson (Cardiff City), Bridge (Brighton & Hove Albion), Zaha (Crystal Palace), Ince (Blackpool), Whittingham (Cardiff City), Bolasie (Crystal Palace), Murray (Crystal Palace), Vydra (Watford).
