Gilchrist Hat-trick in Clarets Romp
Top scorer Jason Gilchrist bagged a hat-trick as the young Clarets romped to their biggest win of the season at struggling Morecambe.
Gilchrist took his tally for the campaign to six as Burnley won away for the first time.
Cameron Howieson, starting his first game at youth level this term, set the Clarets on their way when he drove home from the edge of the box after 18 minutes.
And it was 2-0 at half time as Gilchrist headed home a Howieson cross three minutes before the break.
Gilchrist then made it 3-0 with a shot into the bottom corner as the Clarets continued to dominate and with 17 minutes to go Charlie Holt got on the scoresheet with the fourth after a Gilchrist shot had been saved.
The striker wouldn't be denied, though, and in the final minute Gilchrist completed his treble with a shot across the keeper into the bottom corner from the edge of the penalty area.
