Boss looks forward to week on the training groundBoss Sean Dyche believes he is building from solid foundations as he looks forward to his first full week on the training ground with his new squad.
Dyche’s winning start came to an end at Ipswich Town last Saturday as the Clarets lost 2-1 to a late goal at Portman Road.
But after overseeing back-to-back victories in his opening two games at Turf Moor, Dyche is confident he has plenty to work with.
“The players have done a lot of what we have asked them to do and there is more development within the team, for sure,” he said.
“If you look at the games we’ve had and if people had said we would have a couple of clean sheets and six points out of nine, on the back of six points out of nine previously, then you would say ‘okay, that’s a good base to work from moving forward’.
“There are plenty of positives to build on.”
With no mid-week fixture ahead of Saturday’s visit of improving Charlton Athletic, Dyche has his first extended chance to get across more of his ideas on the training ground.
And he is expecting another positive reaction from the squad he inherited from Eddie Howe.
“The players have been excellent,” Dyche added.
“We have been here for eight or nine days and the response we have had, the way they have delivered performances and the way everyone has been accepting of new staff and new people has been a real positive and that makes a really positive base for us to work from.
“We can get some good work into them this as week and I have said that to them to be ready for that.
“But they have been really good and again on Saturday there was no lack of effort.
“There were some positives we can work on and put into practice to get better.”
