The youth team suffered a 4-1 defeat away from home at league leaders Sheffield Wednesday, in the U18 Development League.
Wednesday took the lead with ten minutes played, as Eyad Hammoud’s strike from inside the area found the top corner.
However, the Clarets were level shortly after, as Bobby Thomas hooked the ball over to the back post from a free-kick.
Which Mitch George latched onto and headed home into the bottom corner to pull the scores level.
Burnley were then down to 10-men as Joe Connelly was shown a second yellow card early in the second half.
And despite the Clarets’ best efforts at keeping the league leaders at bay, Hammoud struck again, as his effort fizzed into the bottom corner.
The Bulgarian forward then secured his hat-trick moments later, with a close range strike.
The match then looked to be out of sight in the 85th minute, as Isaac Rice poked home from inside the box, to rub salt in the wounds.
