The Under-18s look to renew their play-off push when they return to action against Sheffield United on Tuesday afternoon.
After last Saturday’s scheduled fixture against Queens Park Rangers was washed out, Tony Philliskirk’s side faces the Blades at the Barnfield Training Centre (KO 1pm).
And the young Clarets will be looking to extend a seven-match unbeaten run in the U18 Professional Development League to close the gap on the northern division’s top two.
“The lads did really well to dig in and get a draw at Millwall,” said Philliskirk, whose side took a point from a goalless draw against the Lions last time out.
“A lot of things were thrown at them on that trip and in difficult conditions they battled it out to get a clean sheet and a point.
“We could even have won it earlier in the game and hopefully they can build on that performance tomorrow.”
The Clarets will again have plenty of first-year scholars in their line-up, although full-back Kane Patterson will be absent with a shoulder injury he sustained at Millwall.
Second-years Dan Moss (Lancaster City), Oscar Woods (Buxton), Ethan Kershaw and Kian Yari (both Barnoldswick Town) are currently on ‘work experience’ deals to gain the chance of senior football.
The Clarets – who lost 1-0 at Sheffield United last September – currently trail second-placed Leeds United by five points with two games in hand.
The top two teams go into the end-of-season title play-offs.
