Michael Fowler's 31st minute strike was enough for the Clarets to secure an opening day victory against defending league champions Charlton Athletic.
Charlton nearly got off to a dream start just seconds into the game, when Declan Frith raced clear on goal forcing Clarets keeper' Harry Allen into a great save.
Shortly after, Rhys Fenlon came close with a strike from just outsddie the box which rippled the side netting
Cadamarteri's side then took the lead with 31 minutes played, Fowler latched onto Allen's long kick, before dinking the ball delightfully over the on-rushing Joe Osaghe in the Charlton goal.Fowler opens the scoring (Above)
A much even second half saw the visitors come close through a Luca Albon effort which sailed just over the bar and Charlie Moore with a free header that fizzed inches wide.
With minutes to go Kai Smith came close to adding a second for the Clarets, the winger weaved in and around the box before curling the ball into the far corner only to be cleared away by Moore.
Although the away side piled the pressure on for the equaliser, Burnley did well enough to keep them at bay and secure an opening day victory at the Barnfield Training Centre
Cadamarteri was delighted with the result and the clean sheet, he told the club's website "Im happy with a lot of aspects of the performance, obviously really pleased to get the result and a clean sheet but we have picked out a lot of areas we need to improve on, however it is the first game of the season so im really pleased overall"
