Youths Look For Big Finish

Clarets sign off against Bristol City hoping for top-three spot

13 April 2018

The Clarets end their first season in the U18 Professional Development League with a home game against Bristol City on Saturday.

Leeds’ mid-week win over Huddersfield ended Burnley’s slim hopes of a top-two finish and a place in the play-offs.

But Danny Cadamarteri’s youngsters have had an impressive first campaign at this level and could still finish third in the northern group with maximum points against the Robins.

The Clarets have taken 10 points from their last five games with back-to-back wins secured by Michael Fowler’s mid-week hat-trick against Hull City.

Bristol City are seventh in the league’s southern group after a run of just one win in 10 league games.

Kick-off at the Barnfield Training Centre is at 11am.

The Clarets ended their first season in the Professional Development League by hitting Bristol City for six.

A third successive league win saw Danny Cadamarteri’s side finish fifth in the northern group.

Michael Fowler ended an injury-hit season in style by bagging a brace to make it five goals in the last two games.

And Ethan Kershaw, Kian Yari and Jordan Cropper were also on target as the Clarets signed off with their biggest win of the season.
