Burnley Football Club is proud to welcome the arrival of six new apprentices at Turf Moor who have signed on for the 2008/09 season.

Overson said: "We are delighted to welcome all the new apprentices and wish them every success.
"Youth is the lifeblood of the club and we need to attract the best players locally. It is a very aggressive market and everybody wants the best players.
"I just think that that here, we have what we regard as the best players from our local area and we hope to enhance their potential as they come through the ranks."
Below are the details of the 2008/09 apprentices.
Oliver John Devanney - Date of Birth: 22/12/91

The central midfielder from Whalley is a big, strong player who is very strong in the tackle. His good energy levels are an important part of his game and he has a wide range if passing. Oliver has appeared as a substitute for the Reserves in the closing weeks of the 2007/08 season.
Liam Newman - Date of Birth: 07/01/92

An aggressive centre-forward who hails from Cheshire and was spotted playing at county level. Liam, who holds the ball up well, has good movement and is an aerial threat, has played for the Welsh national U16s side and for the last three years has played out of his age group, being involved with the youth team on the odd occasion and also, latterly with the Reserves.
Jake McEneaney - Date of Birth: 06/01/92

A technically sound left-back who is not afraid to make forward runs. Jake, from Skipton, is a neat passer of the ball and excellent at defending, especially relishing individual battles.
Michael John King - Date of Birth: 26/09/91

A fast and tricky left-winger who hails from Aughton near Ormskirk and was picked up at county level, having previously been on trial for Blackpool. Not shy of a tackle, he is brave and strong with good energy levels. Michael played for the Reserves in the final Pontin's League game of the 2007/08 season.
Dominic Knowles - Date of Birth: 13/02/92

An intelligent striker in the mould of former youth team forward Jay Rodriguez. Despite not being the tallest, Oswaldtwistle-born Dominic finds space on the field that others might not. This has aided his development and helped him make several appearances for the Reserve team in the 2007/08 season, culminating in a goal in the final game of the campaign at Accrington Stanley.
Danny MacDonald - Date of Birth: 6/11/91

Blackpool-born goalkeeper who, until this year, was on the books at Liverpool. Danny was signed after playing only his second game on trial for the club. The strong 6ft stopper is a good all-rounder, confident and commanding and possessing sound handling ability. Daniel has also appeared as a substitute for the Reserves in the Pontins League.
