New manager Owen Coyle has called on Clarets fans to get to Turf Moor and welcome in a new era on Saturday as Burnley take on Stoke City.

The former Bolton striker was officially unveiled on Thursday as Steve Cotterill's successor, signing a three and half year deal at the club.

And now preparing for his first match in charge, Coyle insists the team will go all out to deliver attractive, attacking football in their quest for success.

"Chairmen, managers and players all come and go but the one constant in a football club is the fans who are always there supporting the team. I think we have an obligation to the supporters to show them we are giving it our all to try and get a result," insisted Coyle.

"The fans are the lifeblood of any club. We want to encourage more fans to come down because we realise they are an integral part of this club. But we can only do that if we are playing good football and winning games.

"We want to win every game, but I also think we have an obligation to entertain. I'm not going to sit here and make any claims about 'we'll do this and we'll do that'. But what I will assure everybody is we will leave no stone unturned to try and deliver success for Burnley Football Club."

With the club looking towards a bright future, Coyle is hoping for a united front and believes a strong team spirit in the camp is one of the key ingredients.

"We'll go out there with a real desire, hunger and enthusiasm to try and win games. Team spirit for me is very important and the players have to be united as a group. It's often the teams with a greater spirit that go on to win the games," said Coyle.

"I like to think I have a knowledge of football and my teams have always prided themselves on having a real spirit about them.

"It is important the fans are a part of that too because the players are representing them and the fans must see that they are giving every ounce of effort they have to achieve results."

"We've all got the one aim - success for Burnley Football Club. The only way we will get that is with some unity and everybody being in it together."

The team will be appearing in the special 125th anniversary kit for Saturday's game.

Saturday's game marks the start of a new era and it will also be all change on the pitch, with the team wearing the special blue and white 125th anniversary commemorative kit during the match.

And Coyle admits it will be a fresh start for everybody, with all the squad set to be given a chance to stake their claim.

"It is a good squad, but you don't realise the quality until you actually work with them day in and day out. I'm excited about training with them and seeing exactly what attributes they have at close hand," added Coyle.

"It will be a level playing field for everybody. They will all get the chance to impress.

"Those guys that were out of the picture before I came could now have a future at Burnley Football Club and that's how it should be. "

"Everybody will get their opportunity and it will be up to them to go and grasp it. They might have to be patient and wait for their time but everybody will get their chance.

"We've got a massive game on Saturday against Stoke who are a big, strong, physical side. It will be difficult but we'll look to impose our game on them, we know we are capable of scoring goals.

"The team will be wearing the special strip for the anniversary so it will be a nostalgic occasion and we hope to get the three points to go with it."
