Laws Seeing Good Progress
Brian Laws believes Burnley continue to move in the right direction after chalking up a third straight pre-season victory to kick off their Singapore tour.
Goals from Ross Wallace, Chris Eagles, Chris Iwelumo, Steven Thompson and Jay Rodriguez earned a thumping 5-0 victory over Gombak United on Tuesday evening.
And the gaffer was delighted at the progress being made, before the real business gets underway in a few weeks time.
He said: "It has been a very good workout. The conditions here meant it was always going to be very tough and the humidity has been incredible over the past couple of days.
"But I thought after the first 10 or 15 minutes, when we were getting used to the heat and intensity, we saw some very good football today.
"The progression we have been making over the past three games has been very good and it's rewarding to see the players score five goals - and possibly score more.
"The players put a great shift in and at the end of the day it doesn't matter who you play against, to put the ball in the back of the net is a very tough task.
"We passed the ball, moved it well and scored some great goals and hopefully the games will get progressively harder and give us sterner tests."
Intense humidity and high temperatures have meant a close eye needed to be kept on the players as they embarked on this historic tour.
But Laws was particularly delighted at many of the individual performances in a real team victory against the Singapore S League outfit.
He added: "I know Graham Alexander lost six pounds in weight yesterday on fluids alone and I am sure there will be a lot of fluid loss collectively.
"We made changes for that reason, but everyone played the part and the quality of the goals in particular was terrific.
"It was great to se Chris Iwelumo score .his first goal and there were some very good performances all over the pitch
"Wade Elliott was very industrious, Dean Marney did well and Steven Thompson scored again, so all in all it was a great team effort and we are delighted."
