Brian Laws made France under-21 international striker Frederic Nimani his first signing as Burnley boss in January 2010.
The Clarets have agreed a five-month loan deal for the AS Monaco frontman with a view to a possible permanent deal.
Three other top-flight clubs had expressed an interest Nimani.
But the 21-year-old has opted to move to Turf Moor to help the Clarets' bid for Premier League safety.
The powerful striker, who stands at well over six feet, scored seven times for Monaco last season after coming through the club's youth system but has had limited opportunities this term.
Marseille-born Nimani has also had loan spells with FC Lorient and Sedan in his native country.
