The youngster made his home debut in the last home game of the 2007/08 season, coming on as a substitute against FA Cup Finalists Cardiff City.
The enthusiastic and energetic striker also played the final 20 minutes of the 2007/08 season at Crystal Palace.
Alex's achievements in progrssing through the youth team ranks were recognised by the club when he received the Youth Team Player of the Year at the official Player of the Year night ceremony in April 2008.
And after being given glimpses of what the 18-year-old can do, Burnley fans will be hoping he continues to impress Owen Coyle and establishes himself as a first team player.
That started with his first senior goal in the pre-season friendly, at St Johnstone in July 2008.
MacDonald's remarkable rise then continued when he received a debut call up to the Scottish U19s side in September 2008. MacDonald qualifies for Scotland through parentage.
