The youngster made his home debut in the last home game of the season coming on as a substitute against FA Cup Finalists Cardiff City.
The enthusiastic and energetic MacDonald also played the final 20 minutes of the 2007/08 season at Crystal Palace.
Alex's achievements have been recognised by the club and he received the Youth Team Player of the Year at the ceremony in April 2008.
After being given glimpses of what the 18 year can do, Burnley fans will be hoping he continues to impress Owen Coyle and so he can establish himself as a first team player.
