Steven Fletcher and Graham Alexander were the big winners as the Clarets hosted their official Player of the Year Awards at Turf Moor.

Alexander was named Player of the Year, voted for by supporters through the club's official website, while striker Fletcher was honoured as Players' Player of the Year by his team-mates.

The pair collected their awards in front of over 400 Burnley supporters and guests, as well as the playing staff and management team, at a gala evening in the James Hargreaves Suite, staged in association with sponsors Royal Mail Sameday.

Sky Soccer Saturday's Bianca Westwood hosted the night, which also featured a video review of the Premier League season and the now legendary 'Hit or Miss' game featuring the Clarets squad taking penalties blindfolded!

The evening kicked off with a new award - the Junior Clarets Player of the Year.

Voted for online by all Junior Clarets members, it was a tightly contested race with Fletcher narrowly pipping Alexander to the honours.

Burnley's top scorer stepped up to receive his award from Thomas Harrison, the lucky Junior Clarets member who was picked out from all the entries submitted.

Next up was the award for Youth Player of the Year which went to Michael King, capping a superb season for the tricky left-winger, 18, who was recently rewarded with a 12-month professional .

Chairman Barry Kilby presented King with a shield donated by Julia Hatfield in memory of her grandfather and the first Chairman of Burnley FC, Albert Jobling.

Goal of the season followed, with 10 classy contenders up for the accolade which was decided by a fans vote during the evening.

The nominees were Robbie Blake's spectacular volley against Manchester United on the opening night at Turf Moor, David Nugent's stunning header and classy left-foot finish against Sunderland, Andre Bikey's swash-buckling shot which sparked the famous somersault celebration against Birmingham and Blake's magnificent 25-yard strike at Ewood Park.

Also in the running was Chris Eagles' fine goal away at West Ham, Fletcher's sublime strike against Chelsea, Danny Fox's stunning free-kick on his debut against West Ham at Turf Moor, Martin Paterson's classy effort against Portsmouth and Wade Elliott's stunning last-gasp goal at Hull City.

Perhaps not suprisingly, the award went to Blake for his winner against United - one of the most popular prizes of the night.

Next up was the Players' Player of the Season with Fletcher coming out on top from the people who play alongside him week-in and week-out after being given a close run by Tyrone Mears.

The striker was called on stage for the second time of the night to collect his award from celebrity Clarets Sam Aston (Chesney from Coronation Street) and BBC weatherman John Kettley.

And the evening concluded with the prestigious Player of the Year award where Alexander edged out Fletcher, Mears and David Nugent.

Manager Brian Laws and the Royal Mail's David Grimshaw presented the trophy to Alexander, a fitting winner for his outstanding leadership on and off the field in a historic campaign for the Clarets.
