Eckersley's Set To Be A Pilgrim

Posted on: Fri 05 Mar 2010

Richard Eckersley is set to join Plymouth Argyle in a one-month emergency loan deal.

The Clarets' defender will join the Pilgrims' fight to stay in the Championship to gain further first-team experience.

Eckersley has been limited to just three appearances in cup competitions this season following his arrival at Turf Moor from Manchester United last summer.

A transfer tribunal ruled earlier this week that Burnley must pay £500,000 for the 20year-old full-back and manager Brian Laws is now keen for him to progress his career.

"Now everything is sorted out it's important that Richard plays some games," said Laws.

"He will get that down there and we will keep a close eye on him and hopefully he will come back strong for the end of the season."

The deal is expected to be concluded on Friday.
