Kevin McDonald and Brian Easton suffered a night of frustration as Scotland's under-21 side was held to a 2-2 draw by Aizerbaijan at Falkirk.
The young Scots twice had to come from behind to avoid a shock defeat as McDonald and Easton both played a full 90 minutes for Billy Stark's side.
The point took Scotland to the top of Group Ten in their European Championship qualifying campaign.
But it left them with little margin for error going into their final two games against Belarus and Austria, who could also both win the group to earn a place in the finals in Denmark next year.
McDonald will now be back at Turf Moor on Thursday to prepare for the Clarets' trip to Arsenal at the weekend, while Easton heads back to Hamilton Academicals where he returned on loan from Burnley in January.
Meanwhile, the Clarets' pair of Jack Cork and Kevin Long will hope for their share of under-21 action on Wednesday night.
On-loan Chelsea midfielder Cort is in the England squad to face Greece, while Long has been included in the Republic of Ireland party to play Armenia.
