Chris McCann made a goalscoring return from injury as the Clarets lost 2-1 in a training game against Dynamo Kiev in Portugal this afternoon.
McCann was given a 45-minute run-out by manager Brian Laws as he stepped up his comback from a knee injury.
And the midfielder, who has played just 100 minutes of first-team football since September, capped a successful return with a well-taken goal against the Ukrainian League leaders.
"Chris looked good and obviously it was nice to see him back on the pitch," said Laws.
"They were a very good side. It was a very strong, physical game played at a good tempo.
"Both Dynamo Kiev and ourselves were really happy with it and it was a great work-out for us.
"We made a lot of chances and I thought we were the better team and it rounded the week off perfectly."
Nicky Weaver got a first chance of a 90-minute appearance between the posts as Laws fielded a starting line-up made up largely of players knocking on the door for first-team duty, while Stephen Jordan also made his return following a hamstring injury.
Chris Eagles, Andre Bikey and Wade Elliott came off the bench after the game got the go-ahead following torrential early morning rain at the Clarets' 'warm weather' training base.

"I was delighted with how we played," Laws added. "It was important for me to have a look at some of the players who I haven't seen in a competitive game and I was delighted with the commitment, the attitude and the performance.
"Jack Cork was excellent, Chris Eagles did well when he came on, Nimani had a good game and was unlucky not to score and they all did well.
"It's been an excellent trip and will hopefully stand us in good stead for the rest of the season."
The Clarets fly home tomorrow and then begin their build-up for the televised trip to Aston Villa on Sunday-week.
