Being in the Premier League has brought many positives for us all. In my case, it's the regular sight of the best players in England playing in front of capacity crowds at Turf Moor. You have to go back many years to see so many supporters here on a regular business.
This means, of course, that more hard work is needed to continually bring quality youngsters to Burnley. It is no secret that we are surrounded by seven other Premier League clubs, all looking for similar players within the one or one-and-a-half hour travel restriction imposed by the FA.
It is absolutely essential that we continue our searches with ever increasing vigour in all areas. Assessing players in matches from six to 19, continuing and maintaining the high regard the recruitment system has in the North West.

The six to eight year-olds will feed into one of the seven Development Centres situated in the North West, whilst the nine year-olds upwards will be assessed for trials within the youth department.
We currently have scouts covering the areas around Burnley, East Lancashire, the Flyde Coast, Liverpool, Manchester, West Yorkshire and Cheshire, and overseas scouts and contacts exist in Ireland, North America, Australia and in Europe.
However, despite this coverage we are still keen to recruit more, especially scouts from Manchester, West Yorkshire, the Fylde Coast, Bolton and Bury.
You would be assigned to a senior scout who would assist, attend games with you and advise on the club's scouting protocol. Details of ticket allocations, available attire and expenses will also be made available.
If you feel you have some spare time and can assist the club by finding, assessing and then introducing good young players to the club, please contact Jeff Taylor on j.taylor@burnleyfc.com or Andie Cawood on cawood316@btinternet.com / 07765 117622.
The youth development team are also keen to hear from any persons who may be able to provide accommodation for our young players.
If you could offer any assistance, please contact Pat McKiernan on 077060 19757.
