Steven Reid is relishing the challenge that Burnley face in the Premier League after completing his move to Turf Moor.
Reid joins the Clarets’ as the fifth recruit of the summer, on a free transfer, following the expiry of his current deal at West Bromwich Albion.
And having played alongside his new boss Sean Dyche at Millwall in his early playing career, he admits the prospect of a Premier League reunion with Dyche was simply too good to turn down.
He told Clarets Player: “I had on off talks with Sean throughout the summer, obviously it was a long hard season with West Brom last term and I’m delighted to get the deal done.
“There has been other interest over the summer because I was available on a free transfer but this just felt like the right move back in the Premier League.
“I think that it is the best league in the world and I can’t wait to have another crack at it.
“I used to play alongside the gaffer at Millwall and he is a man I respected as a player. He’s been there to guide me through my career so far and it’s going to be great to finally play under him.”
Reid adds more experience to the Clarets’ squad having played for both Blackburn Rovers and West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League, something which he believes to be of great importance.
He added: “Over the last few years it has been a key part of the squads that I have been around.
“The experienced players that have been around the highest level for a long time alongside the young talent here, who I think can make a real impact this season in the Premier League.
“It is important that you have a good blend of both as they’ll be times this season where we’re struggling to get a result which happens at every club in the Premier League.
“Hopefully the lads with that experience can help us get through those sticky patches and we can go on to have a successful season.”
