Burnley Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Chelsea and England U21 international Nathaniel Chalobah on a loan deal until January.
The midfielder spent the majority of the 2013-2014 on loan at Championship side Nottingham Forest before joining Middlesbrough for the remainder of the campaign in January.
Chalobah came through the Chelsea youth ranks and has regularly captained the reserve and youth sides in recent years.
At just 15 years of age, Chalobah was called into the first-team and was an unused substitute in Chelsea’s League Cup tie with Newcastle United.
In 2010, Chalobah won both the Youth Cup with Chelsea and the U17 European Champsionship with England.
He then led Chelsea to another Youth Cup win in 2012 and also travelled with the first-team squad to the 2012 Champions League final in Munich.
That was before his first loan spell away from Stamford Bridge which saw the exciting young talent join Watford in August 2012, and his performances helped the Hornets reach the Play-Off final before losing out to Crystal Palace in the final 1-0.
In the last campaign Chalobah, who can operate as a central defender or in central midfield, appeared 12 times for Nottingham Forest scoring twice, before playing 19 times on Teesside and scoring once.
Chalobah is currently with new Clarets teammate Danny Ings with the England U21 this week as they prepare for UEFA under 21 Championship Qualifiers against Lithuania and Moldova.
