The Clarets Youths fell to a second defeat in a row in the Youth Alliance league at home to Rochdale.
Dale ran out 2-0 winners with quickfire goals late in the day to settle the outcome.
It was the away side that had their chances early on when Matty Gilliam was teed up by James Lenihan just outside the box, however his shot rolled just wide.
Burnley got their first chance when Leighton Egan found Tommy Wood with a neat dinked pass over the Dale defence, but Wood couldn't find his feet to pull off a shot on goal.
The hosts’ best chance of the half then came when Tyler Shrimpton fed RJ Pingling through on goal , only for goalkeeper Brad Wad to save his effort.
The Clarets came out raring to break the deadlock in the second half and looked to have done it when the ball looped over the Rochdale defence and found Tinashe Chakwana in the box, only for Wade to again deny him.
Dale were then close to making the difference when Gilliam laid the ball off to Jack Stewart, however his shot was cleared off the line from Egan.
Rochdale finally broke the deadlock in the 75th minute, when Neil Kuemo took full advantage of Marcel Foulds' mistake and fired home from close range.
And a matter of seconds later, the visitors had their second when Gilliam found the space and time outside the box before firing past King at the far post.
